I have subscribed to McHugh in the past and have my own view of him.
IMO he is a perma bear albeit he does now and then allow for rallies.
I stopped subscribing because I too tend to lean to the bearish side and having a bear reinforce my bearish views meant that having a bullish view was almost out of the question.
So when the market is in retreat, McHugh will be on top but fighting up moves most of the time.
Others may disagree.
