Yes it certainly gave every appearance that something was up and that certain parties were in the know (again). Targetted selling of certain stocks - probably those held by margin traders (and/or thinly traded so easily manipulated).
It is not one market leading another but to this observer some people have clearly linked all the markets and can manipulate to their advantage its seems almost at will. When you consider how much control they can exert over the oil market (80m barrels per day - 8B USD per day - 30 days every month and they can force the price in any direction with their algorithm bot attacks.
