Hi radwimps, if you are a serious day trader they you should consider an eod contract broker like amscot, minc or traderdealer. That's because the brokerage is only 0.0165% instead of 0.11%. So you can scalp on fractional percentage changes. Traderdealer is probably the best for going short/long with highly geared day trades.
