In terms of the WBT / 4DS **** measuring contest, I think the relevant point is that WBT are going for a long-term commercialisation model via mainly licensing, whereas 4DS are aiming for a quick exit via sale of IP. They are different technologies with different niches and different approaches and timelines. Both might tank in spectacular fashion. But I am invested in 4DS to hopefully make big bucks very soon in a lump sum (pay off mortgage). And I am invested in WBT to hopefully make bigger bucks for a long time, ie dividends leading to early retirement. Not sure why the punters on both channels need to be so competitive and righteous.
