Thanks BG for a great example. My figures are a touch higher than those, but I have one other factor that gives me comfort regarding CGT liabilities. Just a few years ago I was foolish enough to fall in love with a share that I thought held great promise. After sinking a large sum in that company, some bad news later emerged to trash the share price. Two good things resulted from this:
Firstly I learned an expensive lesson. Secondly, I have a sizeable lump of brought forward capital losses which I will be able to use eventually to offset future gains. This won't be any time soon because I intend to hold WBT for the long term.
