A bit of heads up on the coming important events on WBT's calendar.
First, they have this CIMTEC conference

This is a very mix conference combining a lot of areas. There is a specific component about the novel materials on Non-volatile memory.

And there is a very dedicated session covers Reram,

In this session, WBT's CTO is one of the invited lecturers.

Since this is a material science related topic and about new materials for ReRAM, it is not hard to related to the recent post about WBT is improving the ReRAM property by adding new elements into the mix

At first, the Hafnium thing in this secret mixture might just be a guess, but it turns out maybe more than a punt.
In the recent publish paper by Leti in IMW 2022 with the reporting 1S1R crossbar structure (particularly with WBT's CSO involved),
    https://hotcopper.com.au/data/attachments/4390/4390522-b2d79ca68821899fab7a8ba332184286.jpg

This study tested the Hafnium oxide bitcell combining with 3 different types of metal selectors.

Considering all the connections between Leti and WBT, it is very hard to say the 1S1R structure announced by WBT got nothing to do with this study.
In this study, they did talked about different elements as selector to connect with the bitcell, and at different geometry, like 10nm, 15nm, 25nm etc,
different types of selectors yeilded varied results.
To gether, my guess is that WBT might have already found that going towards small geometry, for a large memory array, only using silicon oxide might hit the bottleneck for achieving the optimal 1S1R structure.
Therefore, novel material combination is quite possible to be brought on the table and some of the information might be published in this up coming conference?
Luckily, innovation is never stopped in this WBT/Leti combo!
