Great link. Thanks for sharing. I hadn't fully realised how closely spiking neural networks were emulating biology. The follow-on video from the same lecturer is also very good:
Unfortunately, in this video of a live presentation, the slides are shown natively, and hence don't show his laser pointing. However, it isn't that difficult to see what he is referring to. There is some Q&A at the end, of which the first question is interesting. The rest are a waste of time.
