Whilst I have not posted for some time, there is something that I find mysterious with the trading on the 12th Jan. I have spent most of my career looking for trends in data, albeit NOT in the financial sector but noticed a very strong trend in the trading with a plethora of trades of a similar amount separated by a matter of seconds. I found it most unusual that a series of trades could occur with such rapidity and consistency for extended periods. It would appear that someone was either trying to buy big or sell big without bringing attention to themselves or the bots got to work with larger amounts than their 1 or 2 share trades. For example, from 10.09 am to 10.50 am there were just shy of 100 trades in the 135-155 shares with less than 30 secs between trades. This trend continued through the day interspersed with some significantly larger and smaller trades and then between 15.50 pm - 16.00 pm around 90 more trades with the same sort of trend usually separated by 3 - 8 secs.

Another interesting observation was the number of 23 share exchange trades totalling 178 which kicked in from around 11.30 am. I suspect that those exchange trades were the bots working but I would be interested if anybody has some ideas that might explain the observations.

Given there were 1101 trades for the day, 25% were in the 135-155 volume area, 15% were < 23 volume and 16% percent were volumes of 23 that were exchange trades. Perhaps those 23 volume exchange trades will have to become 20 or even 15 volume so as to keep the total under $100 tomorrow .. just saying (or maybe hoping).

For those who would like to validate my observations, download the CSV file from the course of trades for the day and do a few sorts to obtain the data I have made mention of. Maybe some of the gurus here have some insight that escapes me at the moment.
