Let's, just for a second, imagine that when the put these chips in the oven for 5000 hours that it does not mean 5000 continuous hours with absolutely no interruptions. What if every few weeks they take them out and let them cool and do a bunch of tests on them to establish statistical quality control of the process in progress and of any failure modes that it reveals. Then they put them back in the oven and the test conditions restart. Well immediately there goes that '5000 hours means X weeks' idea. And even that is assuming that we knew exactly when the testing process was started.
I am sure Coby gives us the best info he can, rounded up and down for a concise story, but in the real world nothing is quite on time. Not even the babies come at exactly 9 months after all.
