I had the same question, answer from the veteran were, Intel tried both ReRam and MRam, they were successful in m aking it but they could not find customer to buy them and memory is just another commodity and its not their main business.
My next question is, but the current market sentiments are changing how would they keep up with the trend. for which the answer was, Intel tired Optane and gave up due to high cost, Intel could be a customer of Weebit by using GF as their FAB to put their chip, as Intel sees memory market is not the one for them, i.e to sell a product based on memory.
Micron was brought up, as another suitable candidate in the discrete memory with both with and without selector.
But they could be all wrong, with so many new fabs built around the world, who knows what would happen.
