Of course the shorts are exposed. Anyone with a short position that needs to buy back and cover will be scrambling to get in if the company releases big news. Like eveyone else, the shorts won't have advanced knowledge of when news will be released. The company certainly won't be telling anyone in advance, least of all the shorts. But how many real shorts are there currently ? Shortman says ~7%, but I wouldn't believe any number that relies of shorters providing their actual statistics to shortman. Could be 7%, could be 5%, no-one really knows.
