I suspect the shorters would ha ve been anticipating that we would drop out of the ASX300 and then use the release of index funds invested in WBT to cover a substantial amount of their shorts
They did this on 30 Aug when the MSCI rebalance occurred
Having played the game so well the remaining shorters are now at the crossroad. If they wish to lock in profits around these levels they will need to rely on no news and price manipulation to hold the line and gradually exit
They would certainly not be prepared to gamble another 6 months till when the next rebalance is due
WBT is now poised like a coiled up spring with many factors to influence positive share price movements over the next 6 months
