Selector only memory, has limited retention, with a trade off between write latency, and power consumption. Retention can be a few hours to a few days. It is a storage class memory, which essentially means it's cheap, could potentially be high density amd sit closer to dram than nand, in the dram nand gap. But, it is not a storage memory.
It can never be used as an alternative memory for flash drive, SSD's for personal, server, data centres. It cannot be used to store the firmware on embedded mcus. It is only non-volatile for a few hours to a few days. Without refresh.. e.g. can't turn the power off.
WBT is safe and sound.
Selector Only Memory is still also very much research, although the big players are very interested. Does seem to be targeting exactly what 4DS is targeting, but who knows 4DS is expecting some news of their own. Good luck to them. 4DS vs WBT wars of a few years ago are over, completely different markets.
