The way I have taken to trading shares of late is I look for stocks which have lost 50% of there previous share price and have moved up past there down trend line then I look for announcements and see what has caused the sp to brake trend if its good information I buy hold while stock is going up and sell when the price falls by 10%or below the uptrend line.
