New York was very quiet.
Dow Jones +0.07%. SP500-0.00%. Nasdaq +0.05%. Russell 2000 +0.36%.
That finished off a strong quarter for the American indices DJ +9%. SPX +7.2%. Nasdaq +7.1%. Russell 2000 +3.3%. Australia’s XJO was barely positive +0.21%.
Quarterly SP500:
This quarter saw the SP500 poke above the top line of the Standard Error Channel. It is overbought by any usual measure. No wonder a lot of technicians are beginning to sound the bearish signal.
Commodities:
Thursday’s gap down on Base Metals proved to be a false break. Base Metals +1.71%. Energy continued its upside rally +1.5%. Gold +0.63%. Copper Miners +0.32%. Those figures are particularly strong against a rising US$. Metals and Gold usually move inversely to the US$. A bit odd.
Overnight in NY, BHP +0.55% and Rio -0.6%. Woodside +0.09%.
EWA, the ETF for Ozzie Stocks in NY, was flat overnight +0.00%, so don’t expect a lot from our market on Monday. Yes – the stock market is open on Monday despite some states having a holiday.
