The latest available ASIC short report, dated June 29, shows the total percentage of short positions on the top 20 stocks (which represent over 54 pct of the index), was 15.55 pct. The last tally I did was dated June 15, and the percentage on that day was 17.94 pct. So, the short positions on the top 20 stocks, decreased by 2.39 pct between June 15th and June 29th. In comparison, during the same time period, the XJO increased by 95.2 points, or around 1.66 pct, as she went from a close on June 15th of 5719.80 to a close of 5815.00 on June 29th. The largest short positions in triple digits of the top 20 stocks, were: BHP at 4.10 pct, RIO at 2.30 pct, and WPL at 1.10 pct. ANZ and SUN came off the triple digit list.
