thanks for the article, i would agree with the article but for one thing:
SHORT SELLERS
If short sellers know there is apethy, then they can continue to short stocks knowing there is little buying support, hence they can continue to force stocks down.
The logic from the article only applies where short selling cant be done (and you can see this in property markets after a long period of decline, in thailands SET index after the asian financial crisis, where shorting was made illegal).
