I've had low-range myopia since I was a child. Never had a problem with the standard lenses for vision correction until the last few years. I have perfect close up vision, however in recent years my lenses have been blurring my close-up vision to the point I have to use glasses over the lenses in order to see close-up. If I take my lenses out, I can see perfectly close up, but I wear my lenses night and day for distance vision so I'm stuck with the annoying glasses. I tried various brands of multi-focal lenses, but they didn't work. Either close-up was blurry or distance was blurry. The VTI lenses would appear to be perfect for me, however no one has made them available yet where I live but I'm working on it. Obviously I've done a fair bit of research on how the lenses work. I recently became aware of Dr Stephen Snowdy's "parlour trick" he uses in presentations which replicates the way the lenses work by blocking out extraneous information from the sides and forcing the eye to centre focus. So I decided to give it a try. I literally poked a hole in a business card (very scientific) and held it up to each eye (distance lenses in, no glasses) and ......
I was stunned. It works. Perfectly clear close-up vision. In fact, it worked freakishly well. The closer I brought the reading material to my eyes, the clearer it became, like a magnifying effect. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before I can replicate the effect full-time with the lenses. I now have a whole new appreciation for the technology used in these lenses as well as my investment. In children, the lenses have the added advantage of not only providing clear vision but also preventing further progression of myopia. Wish they were around when I was younger.
