    I am not so sure the US shutdown is 'a storm in a tea cup'. I am following it fairly closely. The divide between the two parties is as wide as it gets .... basically about ideology.

    From the Republican perspective 'Obamacare' is a fundamental shift into the US becoming a 'welfare state'. Their argument is if they do not stop it now it will go on to reshape US politics into the future.

    This morning's news is House Speaker Boehner is preparing to use Democrat votes to get the 'debt ceiling' vote over the line. This is a big step if he does that because he will be defying the Republican majority position. Politically a difficult thing for him to do. It would be extremely good common sense if Boehner does this but we will not know until the day comes.

    It would be complete madness for the Republicans to use the debt ceiling to oppose 'Obamacare' but ......
