The ABC/BBC statements specifically say that the endogenous endocannabinoid system is not related to cannabis drugs:"She said the drug acted on natural receptors found in the body known as endocannibinoids which regulate mood and appetite, and not the compound found in the cannabis plant." and "Reports that the drug is a cannabis-based painkiller have been denied by the health ministry."
French people would take the last statement as an affirmation that it was. I was living in France at the time of the Chernoble explosion and the French Government specifically said that there had been no contamination of fruit and vegetables. Many of my colleagues immediately warned me, if eating fruit or vegetables, that they should be washed, dried and heavily peeled (because the govt said that it was unnecessary)!
