Why cut a profitable trade? Just let it run. I never take profits in any way (not even partials).
Partial profits are for people who are in fear. Fear of giving back open profits. It is done to make one feel good. I in no way would recommend it.
All my exits are on stops. Obviously, stops are at a certain risk level that will not be too far as a percentage of current price and exposure.
You get on one good one every now and then, and it will make you equity curve. Why prevent or minimise that?
Why predict, and use the words expect... Expect nothing in this game we love. All is just probabilities. Predictions as such may be ok from a technical basis, e.g. Stoch's are overbought, so why go long at that point etc. But never from a mental way.
note, the above is based on short term trading (at least a few days) not intraday scalping etc.
