I think you have hit the nail on the head with your observations and I have seen similar results across a number of stocks.

1) There seems to be very little correlation between announcements and the share price. The change of address of a company seems to have as much weight as a resource upgrade.

2) I haven't really researched this, but a gut feeling is that a placement on a rising share will not have much effect on a solid trend. On a declining trend, watch out.

I have about one hundred of these charts at the moment and hope to have about 300 by the end of the year and I may then be able to work out a bit of what is happening.

The above may all be nonsense because I have really only done the charts for the last 18 months where the overall market sentiment might be canceling out good news.
