I mainly use fundamental type of analysis for stock selection and usually a good story to go with it. However I will look at chart patterns on the existing stock positions to see if there is any clues for it's direction in order to manage the positions. Example is the partial profit taking of Capitol Health (CAJ) due to a "Head and Shoulders" pattern in my "Longer term stock portfolio" that I keep a journal here in HC.
