I don’t know if MG actually holds any units in GC1, perhaps his dough is in the larger fund; yep, I know that he refers to us as his fellow investors, but with SPs trailing NTAs all over the place, his pockets have to be deeper than mine. When it comes down to it, I see that there are two issues.... one, the performance of the fund, and secondly the SP discount to NTA. And we know that with LICs, these discrepancies can continue almost unabated. The only way out for the SH, is to sell and take the hit.

Yes, there are some funds where you have no choice as the manager isn't able to perform. I don't think that is the case here.
