re: weird trades / trading bots?????? It is called DMA (direct market access). Some insto brokers offer this service where the large institutional fund managers and hedge fund managers have direct access to the market (via broker), and use computer algorithms to execute trades to limit market impact costs (and as they bypass the broker's sales traders, they pay less brokerage as well).
Very much like the "trading robots" you labelled.
As a result, for the less liquid shares, a whole heap of small trade parcels are done in succession and can look quite strange.
