What the hell did he do?
Quarantine is a federal responsibility. Who did that?
He said we were front of the queue for vaccines. He only ordered Astrazeneca, not Pfizer. Pfizer was knocking on our door trying to tell us to get our orders in or we'll miss out. The health minister ignored them, and when we were hearing about supposed problems with AZ we had nothing to fall back on. And who was the health minister who ignored the calls from Pfizer? Seems we had two at the time, and one of them has a history of ignoring warning signs.
Morrison boasted that we'd have 4 million Australians first dose jabbed by the end of March 2021. He missed that target by 90%. Then he made another target by the end of May that he was no where near. Then he said, after the states had done such a good job to get our covid numbers to zero, that there was no need to rush, "it's not a race" to get the jab and if you want to wait until later in the year to get Pfizer (which he had to scrounge from Singapore and Poland) then that's fine. Yeah, good one bright spark. Everyone was feeling pretty relaxed about getting the jab and taking it easy. No masks, no problem, oh hang on, who's that knocking on the door? Omicron.
Well, now we're screwed because we aren't prepared for that. And how did it get in here? Yep, through the impenetrable barriers of the "Gold State Standard" of Sydney, NSW. No worries though, as Gladys has it under control. No need for a full lockdown, a few areas will do. Morrison praises Gladys for not locking down the state and criticises Andrews for doing just that. That's "Gold Standard" situation control says our fearless PM. Next day Gladys locks down the state, just like Victoria, and Morrison immediately backtracks and says "well clearly an early lockdown is the best means of stopping the virus" or words to that effect.
So how much did all these extended lockdowns in 2021 cost the country? Billions would be a fair response I would think. Maybe if Morrison didn't ignore Pfizer. Maybe if he didn't spend so much time criticising Andrews and McGowan while bragging about what a good job he was doing and actually ordered enough vaccines and organised the rollout properly we might have avoided the lockdowns in 2021.
Then there's Jobkeeper. So much money spent to keep businesses afloat. A system designed for companies that experienced 30 percent or more drop in revenue due to the lockdowns so that employees can remain employed. Labor spent money to get us thru the GFC and as a result we hardly felt it, yet they were hounded out of office for it. This mob spent waaaay more for this crisis and those that criticised Labor for doing the same thing were full of praise for Morrison. Liberal voters seem to think that Howard was a great PM because he had a 20 billion dollar surplus (which he got by selling the farm), yet Morrison gave $40 billion to companies that didn't even qualify for Jobkeeper, and that included $20 billion to companies that actually made increased profits during the GFC. When all this came to light his response was "no need to pay it back unless you want to", or thereabouts. Talk about welfare for the rich.
What else did he do during the GFC? Oh that's right, he trashed China at the behest of his great mate, the USA's greatest ever president, Donald "Covfefe" Trump, on some wild goose chase about the origin of the virus. China was none too happy were they? Hardly unexpected. And how many billions did that cost us in exports? What a goose. Then he trashes France, causing the president there to publicly call him out as a liar and make the US president Biden apologise for Morrison's actions. How embarrassing is that? Now we are roped into a far more costly sub solution. This also resulted in trade issues with the EU which cost us billions and had Albanese travel there as soon as he was elected to fix the problem. And now we have Murdoch press getting all uppity about our international reputation with the Comm Games cancellation, which has been by and large ignored overseas, while they glossed over out reputation after Morrison's disgraceful treatment and subsequent fallout with France.
Then there's the bushfires (he ignored warnings because he didn't want to talk about climate change), Christine Holgate, women lucky they weren't met with bullets, rape cover up, support for Clive Palmer over Western Australia, and probably much more. Oh, and have I mentioned Robodebt??
Morrison, our worst ever PM did not handle covid well. The only thing he could have done worse was to act like all the anti-vaxers on social media, and here, and ignored it all together.
