No the QE3 has already happened and was introduced by the Fed Reserve led by Bernanke. The Fed is independent.
I agree the quantitative easing announced by Fed and ECB tends to deflate the $US and the Euro but argue the main influence pushing up the $A at present are the current resource developments underway in Australia which involve capital funding inflows. This is one reason I suspect the RBA is reducing interest rates which put downward pressure on the $A.
The real issue with the US election is will it resolve the 'fiscal cliff' impass by giving Obama more influence over Congress if he wins as I expect? If the fiscal cliff is not resolved it could drive the US economy into reverse with negative implications for us all incl demand for paper in PPXs markets.
