Here’s a few of my thoughts :

mental health issues are awful ( really ) and they are deserving of the greatest respect and empathy .

I think that self investing is a really risky game especially in start-ups , small stocks , overseas/emerging markets etc .

most people lose in this game and nearly everyone who starts the journey loses early on. There is profit to be made but only for those who know and are able to play the game . Over the years I have had to learn lessons the hard way.

to try and work out if this game is for you and how to max your chances of winning please read Robbie burns (naked trader ) trilogy . It’s worth every penny . Sorry to promote but that recommendation is for you out there and not Robbies wallet .

my heart goes out to folk who have lost big and have been affected in terms of health and family .

In my past investments I have come across many assholes and sharpsters whose actions have hit my pocket hard . Very rarely do they get held to account unless someone much bigger than them has been hurt (but that’s rare as it’s normally the little guy that takes the fall ).

so get your friend well and take stock of what I have said . Maybe it’s hard , bitter (very bitter) lessons learnt ... but I have massive sympathy as I have felt it and seen it many tines . Sometimes world inequity ( injustice and unfairness ) comes in other nasty forms as well - poverty , violence , fraud , poor health etc

I’m one of those who have been stuck in this WFE debacle to the tune of 50k. Made a rash decision to jump aboard . Didn’t check enough thinks out . Thankfully for me I’ve learned to invest broadly in other asset (risk) classes but I still feel like I need to throttle something if I found out that I have been ripped off by folk who either incompetent or not enough integrity to manage the company responsibly (notwithstanding risk class ) knowing full well that fragile mums and dads hard earned will be at stake .

I do place a lot of store on people . I know it’s early days but I liked what I’ve seen of Shannon so far . I think direct , efficient, minimal talkers are the best managers as normally these types can execute (rather than blabber incessantly) . At the moment (being on a good hiding to nothing ) I’m thinking that this will cone back (at a loss for me) but that I’ll hold and see how Shannon goes on steering this new gold/iron/cobalt ship .

Thank you Ericson for your refreshing words. It’s great to see people care for the wellbeing of others. Behind these screens are human beings who have been hurt. Hearing the story of mental anguish as a result of ruthless posting is hard to bear. There is no need to kick a man while he’s down, that may be the very thing which sends them over the edge.
