The universal trader argument of " if you want to buy a house then don't spend " is a false argument.
No different to the speed camera debate. Everyone knows they're used as a revenue raiser but they have the perfect alibi. Speed kills. And it does. If you dont want to get fined, don't speed. Does using people's lives as a smokescreen to raise money make it acceptable? No. But they do it.
We need people spending money on discretionary items and keep the local economy ticking over. There's no pride in being a lousy sod. The market is busy correcting itself at present so there is no need for panic by prospective buyers hence the low clearance rates. Watch the market come to you.
