Was it really a massively positive outcome, it didn't prevent the murder? Sure, it did enable the suspect to be found but that is secondary.
I'm not sure if you are simply trolling or truly do believe that a surveillance society is desirable. Either way I think it is incredibly shortsighted to accept "safety"(which is largely illusory anyhow) over freedom, the loss of which is real and permanent.
There never will be a perfectly safe society and I hope there never is. It would be hell.
