    Your call for a fairer simpler tax regime could easily be the core part of an election campaign!

    It wasn't only families with a single income earner above $120k who missed out on compensation for the Carbon Tax - so did self-funded retirees who paid taxes all their lives; for example!

    The whole point is that our system of tax collection, monitoring, etc has become an absurdly unwieldy and self-contradictory behemoth.

    Tinkering won't work; a comprehensive remake that renders irrelevant trusts, backdoor mechanisms for evading tax etc. is essential. Given the regressive nature and easy avoidance of the GST it is not the answer either.
