I think farmboy hit the nail on the head - incentive. It is a bizarre system where an individual can pay one and half times the amount of money as a company.
To have a rational discussion on tax reform and entitlements however I do think everyone would need to put aside their political biases and stop treating it as a point gathering exercise.
