    Lapdog,

    You said:

"You're probably right. Tony Abbott easily hijacked and corrupted the debate over the Carbon Tax and the MRRT. Under Julia Gillard's leadership the same would almost certainly happen again.

As for Abbott leading such a debate, no-one would trust anything he has to say about tax reform since 63% are already concerned about how he would fund his version of an NDIS and Parental Leave scheme - on top of that $70b black hole."

I think this is where you are not seeing what I am seeing. It does not matter if people believe Tony or not. All he has to do is to campaign in the manner I described in my earlier post, that will be enough to turn some voters off Labor, and in a finely balanced contest, that will put Labor in a distinct disadvantage.

There won't be any civil debate. Politics in this country has degenerated into bare knuckle fight, you have to be cunning, brutal, to win.

    You also said:

"We're lead by myopic, spineless, self-serving pollies who are afraid to tackle the major issues that threaten our future for fear it may cost them the PM's job.

The irony is that people want our leaders to demonstrate constructive, responsible and visionary leadership."

For decades, Labor was a party of idealism, voters rewarded it by returning its opponents to office.

You have to be in government to do something. You have to be in government for more than one term to be able to do something meaningful. So, winning government is important.

It is no good being outside of the tent pissing in.
