The profits from Avebury mine once its up and running will be much greater than the immediate need for capital reserve, exploration and development. The options are to accumulate a large sum of money and put it in the bank and keep on adding to it, or to pay shareholders a dividend.
What is the objective of any publicly held company? Increase shareholder wealth. You dont achieve this by putting money in the bank.
