during the last golf war planes were still flying daily, just not over Iraq, the route went north from Bangkok then west over Rusia sligtly longer but safe. As far as I know, no single pasanger airliner was shot down during the last GW. No one is going to put passangers in danger. And people still travel just less tourist. But do not forget global economy needs global communication.
