London | The European Union will not look to use free-trade talks to punish Australia for cancelling its $90 billion submarine contract with France, Brussels officials say.
“Let’s not mix apples and pears,” European Commission foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell told reporters on Thursday (Friday AEST), when asked if the free-trade agreement would be delayed or derailed by Canberra’s scuppering of the French defence contract the previous day.
