I never understood the physiology behind why human eat certain types of meat and not others. I grew up on a farm, we raised, cared for, and slaughtered our own meat (chickens, beef, and lamb mostly with the occasional humpback whale if it was going to be a cold winter).
I am fully against mistreatment of animals in any way what so ever, however, I believe this concept should be separate from the right/wrongs of eating certain types of meat.
If people want to eat certain types of meat, as long as it does not involve the mistreatment of the animal, and sustainability is managed then why not? Especially if it part of their underlying culture.
Inuits better not hunt seals! They are cute, and we think they might have feelings.
On a side note, I feel its a bit hypocritical wanting animals have increase rights when this thread stinks of prejudiced against the Japanese. Talk about moral progression.
