Stop losses are always prudent. Irresponsible investing otherwise. Of course in the case of RAU you might have lost some gains but you always have the opportunity to re-enter. However, anyone who has been in the market for along time has undoubtedly had the occassion where a stock they thought was the next best thing falter, and due to sentiment held it down till it is worthless. Very expensive exercise. Of course, as long as you only put in what you can comfortably afford to lose and have some diversity, your stop-loss points can be alot more lax.
