The Australian newspaper business section prints a list of the top 150 companies by market capitalisation each saturday. And HDR is moving up the list. Last saturday we were 116 if I remember correctly.
The ASX S&P 100 is another matter.
This is an index and is compiled and changed once or twice a year I think.
If I'm not mistaken a shuufling of the stocks that make up that index will take place later this year, September or December sticks in my mind.
This is relevant because fund managers who operate an index-matching style will want to hold HDR in the proportion that HDR makes up in the index.
ie if HDR makes up 2% of the index, the fund managers will want to have 2% of their portfolios in HDR.
This is good because most fund managers will not currently hold much HDR at all and the index funds will hold zero. So there will be a scramble to buy HDR.
Just what we want.
The key is to find out when the index is to be recalculated and what proportion HDR might make up.
I know that it is market capitalisation based.
