Top headlines again today is the ransom demand form the gangster scumbags on Latitude Financial, why the hell hold records from more than 10 years ago? Beyond me.
I believe that there was govt requirement to hold hard copy’s records for 7 years , on top of that, there was no compulsion to keep former clients data on the main server. They could have removed these clients data and saved it on some media storage offline from the Internet or the company’s Intranet.
The following comments is based on my assessment that the current digital platform is still immature and prone to vulnerabilities, and it’s usage is only suitable for entertainment or advertising purposes if connected to the WWW.
This is one of the main reasons for me limiting my digital footprint to a minimum but it is getting very difficult to hold this limit due all forms of duress perpetrated by the Public and Private sectors - “Denial of Service” and hindrances of printed material by registry companies as an example.
If ur attending the AGM, could u point out the security compromise that is practised by all registry companies and if u need to get in touch with them by phone.
What is the usually security questions which forms part of identifying one’s self over the phone….your full name and middle name.
And guess what do they do, they provide half the security info on an envelope!
You don’t even have to rip open the envelope to get these vital info because time and costs is more important than security.
Envelopes with transparent windows save time and one step in the mailing out process.
U would think that from a security perspective these idiots would ensure that only initials and surname would be visible on the envelope…..as an added security measure, eliminate the gender title.
If these companies cannot follow, best practices in snail mail security, what hope or faith does one have for the digital world.
