It'd be better if you read up on it, Ricky. Otherwise, why make any comment. The story is very sad. The reaction of the 28 year old very understandable -if you followed the story. Another priest, Robinson, was interviewed on 7.30 report. Wonderful priest who got put of the big boys' game a long time ago and had written a couple of very controversial books on the church, talked about his own experience with this sort of sleazebags. It isn't an easy thing to do, to repel a very powerful (by position, by your respect and by age and size) man from such situation. Thankfully, I haven't had such experience so I could not judge -one way or another; but the church itself did investigate the case and advised Pell to uphold the man's story. Pell said he wouldn't because no one had complained about the molester's, (Goodall,) behaviour before, when all along he, Pell knew of many cases presented to him earlier and one in particular, that very day, which Pell decided to uphold.
It is clear: a) Goodall had molested many people, including a young girl.
    b) The plaintiff has been and still is affected severely (Robinson talked of never ending nightmares)
    c) Pell lied through his teeth (calls it "badly worded letter!" lol)
    d) Pell admitted he "made a mistake." How on earth does one make a mistake of such magnitude?
    e) Whilst Pell notified the police about the other victim (to whom he wrote on the same day) he refused to call the police for this guy.
    f) Pell had been accused himself of molesting someone but the charges were dismissed. He was still "shaken" by that experience when he had to deal with that of Goodall.
    g) The Catholic Church -like the "artists convent" it seems- is a closed organisation that is given the freedom to regulate itself and to keep overt, objective and open scrutiny away from itself.

Secret organisations should not be free to keep secrets without rigourous checks and balances. They spawn creatures like Pell!
