I'm pretty sure the intention is to avoid the brick tie situation as much as possible. If you do the research the answers are there, BIG 40KG BLOCKS WITH CAVITY BUILT IN. It seems to me that they had to do what was necessary to build with the prototype machines for a reasonable period of time to make the big dog plausible.
For me this part of the journey is done, machines work, it's happening. Brickworks has indicated with their buying in that it seems to think so aswell, for me we're all just waiting for a few ducks to line up running into next year.
