Once again I am providing a local context for the property market in our surrounding suburbs in Adelaide. A local reputable real estate agent has explained that usually at this time of the year, we have 7,500 houses for sale in Adelaide. Currently this has doubled to 15,000 and it is taking on average four months to sell a property. There are two houses for sale in our street; one with a contract on it and the other receiving lots of young families with its open inspections. Another agent from the same company has told me that the market has 'softened and plateaued', so I am watching carefully to see what occurs with these two properties. On another note, amongst four families I know,it is the mothers who are increasing their part time work hours to accommodate additional living costs. Additionally here in Adelaide the governments is increasing its single unit dwellings to accommodate this emerging demographic trend.
