As for green - don't forget to plant more trees

At the moment the network operator is rerouting the electricity around the downed transmission lines using the smaller lines so three units at Loy Yang are back online. Last I looked the fourth unit is waiting for the temporary pylons to go up on the downed transmission line before recommencing.
According to news reports the remaining blacked out areas are as a result of numerous localised distribution lines having been damaged, probably brought down by trees and branches in the windy conditions.
Crews working day and night to clear vegetation and affect repairs.
Some people like to live in areas where there are trees.
    It's a lifestyle choice.

At the end of the day this wasn't a case of insufficient generation.
Although at the start of the day some wind was curtailed due to bushfire condition threat mitigation othe forms of generation where fine.
Then the change came and wreaked havoc on transmission and distribution lines some of which was built in the 1960's.
If it happens more frequently rather than once every few years then people might decide to get quotes for an emergency power circuit in their homes and businesses.

Years ago when I worked for a multinational company their outlets in Victoria had emergency diesel generators because the power used to go out quite often, so it was worth the expense of installation and maintenance to be able to keep trading during the outages.
