Agree he was well respected, but he was also one said that Wesfarmers would always "march to the beat of its own drum".
As such, he made decisions that some liked and many disliked at the time. History has shown the decisions to be very successful.
Goyder is no different, he was criticised for not making any acquisitions, then criticised for buying Coles. More recently he's criticised for taking too much debt, then others are criticise him for possibly doing a rights issue over taking on large amounts of debt.
I think you need to trust that they are doing the right thing, if not, don;t hold their shares.
