I think you have identified the most important point in that statement.
We all learnt growing up that sportsmanship was honourable.
We all learnt that it is honourable to look after the most vulnerable people in society.
People such as John Landy ignighted our collective humanity by leanding a hand to those who have fallen.
Putting the needs of others before our own. Doing what we can to help.
That is the light side of humanity. That side is eternal.
The dark side of humanity is transient.
