re: wesfarmers in play Hi cheech,

there is no reason why WESfarmers should not be in play any more than any other company on the ASX albeit that there are a very big percentage that nobody in their right mind would want to buy. ;-)

It is precisely because WES is at danger of becoming an undergeared cashbox that WES has moved to make the capital return and sharpen up their balancesheet which is becoming decidedly lazy.

WES have also removed the rather antiquated old cooperative structure that had acted as a poison pill of sorts in recent times.

So with several decidely tasty businesses in the mix being the cashcow of Bunnings, the Kleenheat etal gas business, coal, WA fertilizers and insurance etc all looking very nice and the dead weight of the capital intensive and poorly performing rural business offloaded onto the twits at the AWB for far too much money a takeover would be decidely possible.

It may even be a preferred outcome for all those old farmers who still loyaly hold their shares from the old rural coop days and are sitting on massive capital gains. Might even suit Michael Chaney who could be getting a bit bored around now and looking for something else to do?

    Cheers,
