Seems to me the big mistake made by AL and Lynas was expecting Malaysia to keep its word and act based on the scientific evidence and rationality. (Not to mention ethics.)
I'll be interested in the commentary from Lynas and others once they have extracted themselves from that wilfully 3rd world place.
