I cannot understand how a big bank like Westpac can be stuffing up like this.

Once, not many moons ago, they had a problem with their login page and supplied an alternative page. That took (if I remember right) more than 2 days to fix.

Critical business IT servers have something called redundancy. Either a completely separate physical machine or RAID disk based.

Even a small web apps company that has non-critical applications go for some basic redundancy (as above). I just cannot understand how this can be happening with Westpac. Too many managers drawing boxes and arrows and preparing nice excel spreadsheets (with no clue about technology) I suppose :)
