This is happenning across the board in Australia and it is not as if this companies are not profitable. QANTAS is another example where the workers have had to take industrial action to protect their jobs. The way things are going only Senior Management in will have jobs in Aus as they will export all of the rank and file jobs overseas to increase profits.
The company my mate works fora business that did the same thing. They used to make components for their product in Oz and they were profitable, they had long term government contracts. They only employed 20 people. They got a Indian who bought a share in the company and the components are now made in India and the company makes over $100 grand profit per container load. But now there are only 10 staff in the company and they assemble the components instead of making them.
